This Unimproved Collagen and Elastin is worthless and potentially dangerous
I have been using the St Ives collagen and elastin- off and on- for more years than I care to remember. They may have reformulated it over the years but I never noticed. This time, this they changed the formula ( in a purple container and called Timeless Skin to an inferior product in a blue container called Renewing). The original Timeless Skin was a nice product with a smooth, non-greasy texture at a very affordable price. Unilever changed the product in very significant and inferior way, they have bought out many good “natural” or “organic” companies and have done the same thing. The preservative Phenoxyethanol, a formaldehyde-releasing preservative, is limited to use in Japan at 1%. It used to be the last ingredient before fragrance and now it is towards the top.. Being the 6th ingredient is is very worrisome and potentially dangerous, meaning there is much more phenoxyethanol than any beneficial ingredients. In fact, collagen and elastin are now the last ingredients, there is even more fragrance in the new and unimproved product than collagen and elastin, the last ingredients. The number of ingredients have stayed the same, but all of the beneficial ingredients (sunflower seed oil, collagen and elastin) have been made insignificant compared to the cheap and potentially harmful preservative and fillers that are way too high on the list. The texture is similar, but does not have the bulk of the previous formulation, because collagen and elastin give creams bulk and there is barely any in this cream. It also has a much stronger smell, because again, there is more fragrance than active ingredients.Timeless Skin (Collagen and Elastin)Ingredients: Water, Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Stearic Acid, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Cathamus TinctoriousNew and Unimproved Renewal (Collagen and Elastin) Note:the official St Ives site even misrepresents their ingredient! (Shady)The ingredients on the container are:Water(Aqua), Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol, Glycerl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Stearic Acid, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower Seed Oil), Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum), Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin. The supposedly up-to-date (false) ingredients from the official St.Ives Site:Water (Aqua, Eau), Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum, Huile Minerale), Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum), Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Coumarin, Geraniol.Interestingly enough when looking for the ingredients for the Timeless C& E, I found several versions that were much superior than the most recent, Collagen/Elastin being some of the first ingredients instead of dead last as it is now.Water (Eau/Aqua), Geraniol, Coumarin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Hexylcinnamel, Linalool, Glycerin, Ethylhexl Glycerin, Parfum (Fragrance), Disodium EDTA, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, CarthamusTinctorius Seed Oil (Safflower), Phenoxyethanol, Stearic Acid, Glyceril Stearate, Propylene Glycol, PEG-100 Stearate, Mineral Oil.This is the formulation that I loved so many years ago. St. Ives (as well as many other “natural” or “organic” skin/haircare companies- Nature’s Gate which used to make fantastic products comes to mind- sold out to Unilever and their previously mostly natural and safe products became junk, filled with cheap and potentially dangerous. Many of these companies who did not test on animals, now do under Unilever.

I’m obsessed!!!
I love this face cream!!! It’s so moisturizing, makes my skin feel great, it’s nourishing but not greasy, and it’s such an amazing value for the huge amount of product you get. Like the tub is giant! I love the very light scent, and the quality of the product is overall 10/10. It’s also got enough slick when you use extra product to where you can use it for gua sha as well.

Great basic moisturizer
I miss so many of St. Ives products. I’m so glad they haven’t discontinued this one, at least not yet. This is a great basic moisturizer, and for the price, and the size of the jar, you can afford to slather on as much as you may need or want. This moisturizer provides great protection in cold weather, I can still feel it when I wash my face in the morning, having provided that protective layer through the dry night air. It’s not a miracle anti-aging product, but for the price, that shouldn’t be expected. It definitely keeps skin soft and moisturized, and has never caused me to break out, even in the summer. From what I’ve seen, this is about the best price on a quality basic facial moisturizer anywhere.

Works great so far
I’m a 28 year old male, with thin, sensitive skin. My complexion is clear and mostly smooth with larger pores on my cheeks on either side of my nose. In warmer months, I have normal to oily skin and, in colder months, I have tight, dry skin, especially around my chin, nose, and forehead. I am a smoker. When I turned 18, I had my first major experience with dry skin. At the time, I was bathing with a bar of soap, including my face. I developed a red, flaky rash around my chin and upper lip that winter, which was embarrassing. I had no idea why it occurred and went to the doctor, who prescribed antibiotics and steroids which did very little. In fact, using the steroids for more than a few weeks caused steroid induced dermatitis everywhere it had been applied. I began using Spectro Jel and then Cetaphil exclusively on my face (and body wash to bathe), and the rash faded and never returned. Within the last couple of years, I’ve simply been using a sensitive skin body wash tailored for my body and face with no problems – usually either Dove Men or Nivea. Still, every winter, I develop tight, dry skin, which is mildly flaky (but not rashy, like before) around my chin, nostrils, and between my eyebrows. The creases around my nostrils and upper lip also become slightly red, like wind burn.I decided to try a moisturizer with some reluctance because I’ve always been afraid that adding anything to my face that isn’t a cleanser will cause a break out. I’ve had bad luck in the past with moisturizers doing this and ultimately why I swore them off for years. Sensitive skin is a gift and a curse. On one hand, my skin is very soft and smoothly textured; on the other, it’s hard to balance the need to cleanse to prevent blemishes and the need to moisturize so dry skin doesn’t occur.I bought this product based on reviews, which is always a gamble. So far, I am very satisfied. The moisturizer is light and once it goes on it does not feel heavy on the face. The odor is slightly medicinal but does not linger when applied. My face is feeling moisturized and supple. Problem areas, especially the outsides of my nostrils which are always the tightest, are no longer dry, tight, and flaky. I haven’t experienced any reddening, either. No blemishes so far – I have been applying the moisturizer for the past 4-5 days. Even the creases on either side of my mouth seem filled in and smooth – I always thought “fine line repair” was advertising fluff for older, wrinkly women wanting to look young again.I will update in the future. So far, so good.**Update – 5/6/15**I have unfortunately downgraded my rating to three stars. I used the moisturizer sporadically over this past winter. The honeymoon period – when I made my original 5-star review – quickly wore off. While this product does moisturize well, it started to cause blemishes for me, even with light use. It does not irritate my skin but it clearly clogs my pores. So, for those with oily or combo skin and prone to blemishes, I would not recommend this.

Perfect Face Cream! Not Greasy – Light Pleasant Scent – Excellent Price!!
SO glad I tried this! This is my new absolute favorite face cream. No need to spend $30 (plus!!) on a fancy face cream! This is the best face cream I have tried. The quality is excellent. The consistency is super smooth and silky, yet not greasy. The fragrance is a light herbal scent that is very pleasant, not flowery or overpowering at all. The size of the container is large, so you really get a lot for the money!! I put it on before bed, and then again in the morning. I’m in my 50’s and this is the best product I have tried for my aging/dry skin. And it does not ‘smother’ my face like some heavier creams have done. I highly recommend it!

The seal was broken! How can I know now this is the real cream or a new product??

This is now my favorite neck-chest and face moisturizer! It has a pleasant neutral fragrance, wipes on easily and isn’t oily. A little seems to go a long way and the price is reasonable given these benefits. I apply it a little after a different product that contains Retinol. The combo noticeably diminished the appearance of neck wrinkles in just one and two weeks.

Lovely texture – lightweight but does the job. Really great value considering the size of the pot. I use this every day and it’s the best moisturiser I’ve come across. Doesn’t pill, isn’t greasy, makes my skin look healthy and seems to smoothe lines.
